The Annual #Selfie Game

February 25, 2017 0 Comments
We had come to that time of the year again where my siblings and I would take tons of selfies just to appreciate how "pretty" we were.

Yup, we are that annoying and selfie happens when we all come together.

Okay, now I am being annoying, haha!
Mom said I should smile for the camera so say "CHEESE"! 😁

Oh yeah, BTW, any of you are Gudetama fan?

If you love Gudetama like I do then most probably you will like this new UT (Graphic T-shirts) Collection from Uniqlo.

Here is a quick snapshot from Uniqlo's online store for you guys to take a look.

Isn't it the cutest egg on earth?
It is so cute and I had to get all 3 of the designs.

I am currently obsessed with this glob-like creature with arms and legs but that is not the main reason why I love it so much. The main reason why I fell in love with this creature is because of its freaking weird facial expressions.

I do not know about you guys but that egg's facial expression truly describes of what I am feeling most of the time, especially the one that says "seriously... I can't...".

Yup, that is me on a daily basis, "Seriously, I just can't, it is too much for me" then go back to bed hiding under my blanket. 😂

Okay, so go get those t-shirts before they are sold out (You have been warned)!

Okay, today's post is not all about Gudetama but about how we embrace our "beauties" through selfie.

Okay okay, please don't puke in front of your computer or laptop, please don't hit the close button and please don't hate me. 😝

So here comes the selfie game. 😂

We were actually trying to recreate those Instagram fashion blogger poses where they are kind of "stylishly" standing there with their handbags and all kind of stuff. Just trying to be glamorous in general but we failed badly, LOL!

So let's insert some hast tags for her, #ootd #notsofashion #kindacutehandbag #chicdress #notaniphone #cuteshoes #tryingtobeglamorous #idontknowwhatiamdoing #okiamnotcute

Then Charlotte and I decided to join the fun.

#iseriouslydontgetit #notglamorousatall

Okay, you have seen enough, I am sorry that I hurt your eyes 😂 and now, I am going to share some of my FiFi's pictures. At least she is cute and who doesn't like dogs, right?

FiFi as the Little Green Riding Hood.

Awww, she has the biggest and cutest eyes on earth. 😍

And sometimes, she decided to sleep like a normal human being (Of course it was me who covered her with blanket 😂).

And look, I had found FiFi in a cookie form and look at those derpy eyes of this cookie, haha!

I really enjoyed being around with my family especially my crazy sisters. The house would be so noisy when the four of us were all together, mom and dad would be like "can you all please be quiet for a second?". 😝

Okay, that is it for this post.

I know it is too late to say this but Happy Chinese New Year to all my friends and family.

Here is a nanoblock 财神爷 (God of Wealth) that I bought for my dad, isn't it cute?
And yes, it came in tiny blocks that you have to assemble yourself.

Have a great weekend everyone and I shall update you guys soon. 😊

Love,
Rachel.

Not My Birthday

February 18, 2017 0 Comments
Happy Birthday to You
You live in a zoo
You look like a monkey
And you smell like one too. 🐵

🎂🎂🎂

Some of you may heard this "zoo birthday song" from Madagascar but for me, my dad actually sang that to me when I was a kid and I would be thinking "Huh? Really dad? Do I really smell like a monkey? And how does monkey even smell like?".

Yeah, I was the dumb one in my family, haha!

Last month, we celebrated my BF's 30th birthday. Yeah, he turned 30 last January, sounds old right? I hate to break it to you but, we are actually not young anymore. 😖
Even the 90's babies aren't babies anymore, haha!

Okay, here comes the birthday boy, one of the 80's babies, haha.

Happy 30th birthday my baby (although you are no longer a baby 😝), I wish your every day to be filled with lots of love, laughter, happiness and the warmth of sunshine. Just stay weird and be happy.

BF's nerdy face. 👦

Since it was his big day so we decided to eat something fancy for lunch.

That is how you treat yo self! 😁

We did not know what fancy food to eat for lunch but we decided to try our luck at Bugis because to me, Bugis always seems to be like a place where food lovers would go. And of course, another shopping heaven for me, haha!

My life would not be complete without some shopping therapy during the weekend.
Oh wait, I thought this post was about his birthday, not about me going shopping, haha! Ops, my bad and let's get back on topic which is his birthday.

Okay, where was I? Ahh, the fancy lunch that we talked about earlier.

We walked around Bugis to find a great place for lunch and then we saw this, Mai Maison Restaurant which serves a mix of Japanese and Western food.

Is it only me or restaurants do always have the best window display?

Usually I will get attracted to restaurant with window display that showcasing all their fake food. I don't know about you guys but those "fake food" definitely look delicious than anything else in this world. 😂 (As though they are going to serve me all those fake food 😒)

Okay, now let's take a look at the real food that we ordered for our lunch.

We ordered Potato with Mustard Mayonnaise in Au Grantin Style as our appetizer and it was so delicious! I love potato and shrimp very much and this combination is awesome!

Appetizer: Potato with Mustard Mayonnaise in Au Grantin Style

If I were to try to describe my love for potato, I would say I could eat them for the rest of my life without feeling sick. You know when it comes to "choose only one food to eat for the rest of your life and what would you pick?" kind of question, I will definitely pick potato. Potato is life!

Plus there are so many ways to cook a potato so don't worry, you won't get bored easily, haha!

And for this case, sorry, I can't only pick one. All of them are freaking good!

Okay, I should stop talking about potato and and let's move on to our main dish. 😋

We order Seafood Paella as our main dish, yummy yummy.

I can never say no to seafood, this is another thing that I can eat for the rest of my life too if I were given the chance to pick two types of food to eat for the rest of my life, haha!

Main: Seafood Paella

And of course, we had to get some desserts to fill up our second tummy. 😉

I don't know what a Mont Blanc Tart is but this Mont Blanc was delicious. It was on their Christmas menu and it was something different from what we usually eat because usually we would just satisfy ourselves with those ordinary flavours like chocolate, strawberry or green tea, haha!

I liked it so much but, too bad it was only available for a limited time.

Dessert: Mont Blanc Tart

If you are looking for a great place to eat in Bugis, don't forget to give Ma Maison a try.
When you are craving for Japanese and Western food at the same time, Ma Maison would be the best solution for you, trust me. 😉

Okay, that is it for today's post.
Thank you for reading and I shall update you guys real soon.

Happy weekend folks!

The Potato Girl,
Rachel.

Holiday Well Spent

February 03, 2017 0 Comments
Hello Bloggies!

As you know, I am sometimes (all the time 😒) quite slow in updating my blog and here I am with my Christmas blog post on Chinese New Year. Can you see how slow I am right now? Haha, my apologies for the delay.

A quick flashback to last year's Christmas where I got to spend the holiday with my family in Singapore. My mom and two of my sisters (Ingrid and Hazel) came to Singapore on Christmas eve and they were here for 3 days 2 nights.

It was quite difficult to book a hotel room during peak season; either the room rate was too expensive (since it was peak season) or the location was non-strategic. In the end, I found a room on Airbnb and to my surprise, we actually had a great experience from using Airbnb. It was my first time using Airbnb and I did not realize how easy it was to book a room through Airbnb and you can actually find quite a few rooms that are cheaper than hotel rooms (suitable for budget travelers).

For dog lovers like us, we found ourselves lucky when we knew that there would be dogs in the Airbnb that we rent. Yeah, we are one of those people who will get very excited when we see dogs.

🐶🐶🐶

Dog: "Hooman are so annoying." 😂

We then went to Bugis Junction for some retail therapy and of course, my dearest sister Ingrid couldn't resist the urge to get a new bag at Charles & Keith.

👜👜👜

That happy face when you just bought your favourite bag.

We went to Universal Studio Singapore on the next day to have some fun. You can never say no to theme park and no one is ever too old for theme park. 😉

🌏🌏🌏

Okay now, let's go and meet the Minions, my favourite attraction in USS!

How can you not love the adorable and stubby yellow (even though yellow is not my favourite colour) creatures?
And look, Minion headband! 😍

Even mom approved it. 😂

We had a lot of fun at USS despite the hot weather. Just us being crazy together.
Then it started to rain heavily around 5:00 PM and this happened.

Mom was wearing a raincoat and I have no idea what were Ingrid and Hazel thinking. 😂

USS turned into a water park in seconds! Some of the rides were still operated and we decided to ride on one of the roller coasters.

That fun feeling to ride on a roller coaster on a rainy day.

After we got so soaking wet then only we remembered that we did not have any towels and we still had to take the train home.

The next question was how to "un-soaked" ourselves?

Okay, first thought on riding a roller coaster on a rainy day: FREAKING AWESOME!

Actually not that awesome when you can feel the raindrops poking your face like a needle. Ouch! 😣

It was quite depressing when the rain did not show any signs of stopping and slowly, it started to rain heavily. Most of the outdoor rides had to close because of the rain, why rain? Why? 😔

We then decided to witness the World's Largest Indoor Light Bulb Display and it was amazing. I can not imagine how much of efforts they had put in to create this masterpiece.

There were tiny light bulbs (824,961 to be exact) all over the place and the view was beautiful and magical. It was like entering the Narnia world.

In the end, the rain did not stop and we took the train back to VivoCity for dinner. Everyone was hungry after a crazy day at USS, hungry and wet, haha!

Dinner of the day: Monster Curry.

Hazel is a huge fan of Japanese curry rice and she decided to have this for dinner.

Hazel, Ingrid and mom were sharing a huge plate of Chicken Katsu Curry with an additional omelette and the amount of food in this bowl was insane.

Bf and I, we both shared a plate of Monster Egg Curry and the curry was really delicious.

To all Japanese curry lovers out there, don't forget to give this a try. 👍

At the end of the day, we were all exhausted but at least everyone was happy.

A holiday well spent with my family and going back to work on the next following Monday after the holiday was freaking blue. 😩

I am so grateful to have the chance to spend the Christmas holiday with my family.
Thank you mom and sis, you guys are awesome. 😘

Okay, that is it for this post, thank you for reading and Happy Chinese New Year.

I know it is too late to say Merry Christmas so buh bye. 👋

Love,
Rachel.

Birthday Night Out

January 14, 2017 1 Comments
Hello, hello Bloggies!

How are you Bloggies doing so far?
We are already halfway through the month and I still feel like Christmas was just yesterday.

Can the time slow down a little? It freaks me out sometimes.
Does any of you freak out too on how fast the time passes?

I am trying to catch up with the time because this blog post is way behind time. My birthday was on the 19th of December and here I am, still typing my heart out just to keep my blog update.

Okay, without any further ado, let's get to business. 😉

My birthday was on the 19th of December (as I mentioned earlier) and it was kinda suck to have your birthday on a Monday or during the weekday. 😔 Does anyone of you have that same kind of feeling too?

Because of our busy schedules during the weekday then we decided to celebrate my birthday earlier on the weekend. It was just a simple birthday celebration for me, not really the fancy or lavish kind of celebration but it was enough to make me feel happy. Thank you. 😊

I was craving for Japanese food earlier and we decided to have our dinner at Shin Kushiya. It was a great place to taste delicious Japanese food and we were both satisfied with it.

Okay, I am going to let the pictures to do the talking (or writing) because I do not know how to properly describe on how yummy or how delicious the food was. As long as my taste buds approved the food then I am done, the end, haha!

I ordered a Seafood Curry Don which served with rice and salad. I love to eat Japanese curry and seafood so this was a great combination for me.

 Seafood Curry Don

Bf ordered Cha Soba which is something that I don't really like. Cold noodle is not my kind of food, I prefer to have my food hot.

 Cha Soba

Next, let's move on to the sushi part.

One of my favourite or must-have sushi when I eat Japanese food is whatever sushi that has salmon in it but not raw salmon. I am not really a fan of raw food; half raw is still acceptable but not 100% raw.

This was one of the best sellers on their menu and guess what? They actually lived up to its reputation. 👍 It was quite good and the salmon was very fresh, definitely try this out when you have the chance to eat there.

Flamed Salmon Sashimi Maki

Black Dragon Roll was on their "Celebration Menu" where they celebrated their 10th year anniversary and brought 10 of the favourite dishes back.

It says there in the menu that Black Dragon Roll is their all time favourite and we decided to give it a try.

And it became one of my favourite too, haha! But not quite sure whether this would be on their menu all the time or just during the 10th year anniversary celebration period. 😕

 Black Dragon Roll

Last but not least, DESSERT TIME! ✌
How can you not have dessert after meal? 😝

We ordered a Traditional Red Bean with Mochi and for a red bean and mochi lover like me, I approved! 👍

It doesn't look really appetizing in this picture because everything was kinda sank in the red bean soup. Forget about how it looks like in this picture, this was actually quite delicious. Whoever doesn't like sweet dessert, you may want to give this a try.

This is how it looks like on the menu, green mochi that actually float on the red bean soup, haha!

Awesome and satisfied birthday dinner, thanks bf! 😘

We then decided to walk around Orchard Road because it was Christmas and Orchard Road was decorated beautifully with all the Christmas decorations. 🎄

Christmas is always so magical and there are only 300 and blah blah blah days to Christmas.
*Patiently waiting for the next Christmas* 😝

And Christmas would not be Christmas without the Christmas carols.

And then there was me decided to be one of the Victoria's Secret angels for like 2 minutes. 😝

Me being the not so flattering VS angel. 😂

I still can't believe how fast time flies and I am now officially 25 year old.
Seriously guys, where has the time gone?

I actually wrote a post on the life lessons that I have learned throughout the years, don't forget to read on that post as well if you are interested to know. 😊

Wondering what bf gave me on my birthday?

A FREAKING GOPRO!!! 😱😱😱

I am still not so over with this birthday gift of mine. 😍
Thank you so much for the awesome birthday gift! 😘

That is it to my mini birthday celebration with le bf.

Here is to another awesome year ahead!

And again, thank you for reading and I shall update you Bloggies soon. 😉

The birthday girl,
Rachel.

Life In General

January 09, 2017 0 Comments
Hello Bloggies!

Happy New Year and I hope everyone had a great new year celebration over the long weekend.

How is the new year doing so far? How has 2017 been treating you guys so far?

I have just turned 25 last month and WOAH! Where has the time gone? I have been living on this Earth for 25 years now and that is like a quarter of a century (mind blown). I feel like I just celebrated my 21st birthday not long ago; time does fly.

After living on this planet for 25 years, have had my ups and downs but I will still not consider myself wise but definitely, I have learned some valuable lessons along the way.

Beware: lengthy post coming up!
You have been warned. 😝

Here are some of the 25 lessons that I have learned throughout the years:

1. Just do it.
Ever thought about doing something that you have been wanting to do since like forever? Why don't you just do it?

Yeah, why don't I just do it?

I understand thoughts like "what if I am not good enough?" or "what if I fail?" have somehow crossed your mind but have you ever thought about what if you succeed? Life is too short for too many "what ifs". If you didn't do it, you would not know the outcome and sitting there thinking about more "what ifs" would not help either.

"I am not ready for this", guess what? No one is ever ready for something in life, you just do it. If you want to do it, do it. That's it.

Be like Nike, just do it.

2. Being happy is all that matters.
Life is short, real short and why would you want to spend your whole life living in sadness?

If there is even a slight chance of getting something that will make you happy, risk it. Life is too short and happiness is too rare.

Think about it.

3. Seize every opportunity.
Great opportunities don't come everyday and if you are lucky enough to bump into one, seize it! It might be scary to you at first but you will never know where that opportunity might take you to. Why not just seize it and let it take you to wherever you are meant to be.

4. Everything happens for a reason.
"If only I knew the reason".

Uh-uh, nope, life doesn't work in that way. Sometimes you just don't need to know what the reason is, just believe everything happens for the good. Life has a mysterious way of working things out, either good or bad, it will always bring you to where you are meant to be. Maybe it will take a while for you to understand why things just happen but eventually, you will understand.

5. Don't rush yourself into a relationship.
Relationship can always wait, there is no need to rush into a relationship. Try living on your own, be independent and experience life before committing into a relationship.

You are going to have the rest of your life with your soulmate so before you find one, try to enjoy being single and appreciate all the "me time" that you have while you are single.

I am not trying to sound like a bit*ch but honestly, sometimes I do regret a little that I did not really live through the single life. I started dating when I was 18, had been together with the same guy for about 4 years but then things did not work out well. We ended the relationship and guess what? I was so desperate and I jumped into another relationship about 1 month after the break up. That was my biggest mistake that I have ever made in my life. I was broken, I was self destructive at that time and I thought being in a relationship would help me to get better but no. It did not get better and not only that, I got worse.

3 months later, I ended that relationship and I tried to embrace my single life. Instead of looking for another relationship, I focused on my job, took up a few hobbies and got to know myself again. Those were the best things that could ever happened to me. It felt great to have all the focus on yourself again.

Understand yourself first before you try to understand other. Love yourself first before you try to love other.

6. End toxic relationship.
I was once stuck in a toxic relationship but I didn't have the courage to walk out of it. All I could think of was "what am I going to do without him?", "will I ever be happy again if I leave him?", "what if we can change for the better?" and all sort of questions.

You know what?

Everything will be okay and trust me, everything will be even better. I don't know what you guys are going true and I understand that it is easier said than done; been there, done that. I couldn't find the courage to leave as well and my friends were kind enough to help me to walk out of it. They gave me a lot of courage and mental support, showing me that I would be just fine without him and everything would be even better if I ended the toxic relationship.

Yes, they were right, everything became so much better after I ended the toxic relationship. I then realized that sometimes it is not that we do not love each other but actually, we are not for each other. Sometimes you just have to let go and set yourself free because there is actually someone out there who is meant to be with you.

7. It's okay to fail.
I failed so many times before I got to where I am right now. At first I thought it was the end of the world for me but then as I grew older, I realized that failures don't define you at all. It doesn't mean that once you fail, you will forever be a failure. It does not matter how many times you fail, as long as you get up from where you fall and keep moving, that is all that matters.

The courage to get up and keep moving are enough to prove that you are not a failure. There will be always ups and downs in life and that is what makes life so exciting. Treat everything in life as a challenge to yourself, just like how you play your favourite game. What do you do when you fail at certain level of the game? You try again, right? Yeah, that is what you should do in life too. You fail, you try again and soon you will succeed.

If you do not get it right at the first time, do not worry, just keep trying. Eventually, you will get there, I promise.

8. Don't stop learning.
Knowledge is limitless and through learning, that is what keeps you growing.

9. Treat yourself.
Sometimes people tend to get so busy in life and they often forget to treat themselves a little bit. Treat yourself sometimes because you deserve it.

Splurge a little once in a while, just get that handbag that you have been eyeing on for some time.

Have a few cheat days every now and then, just eat that cupcake or ice-cream.

Have a few rest days in a month, just stay in and put your sweatpants on for the whole day.

Always remember that at the end of the day, no one will ever treat you better than you treat yourself .

10. Slow down.
Life is not a race.

Sometimes you just gotta stop rushing and slow down a little. You will realize how beautifully you are surrounded by this amazing life.

Slow down, life is not about rushing to the finishing point because there is no finishing point. Life is all about enjoying the ride into the unknown.

11. It's okay to feel fear.
When you fear of something, don't worry because that simply means something great is coming up. Don't let fear stop you from getting what you want.

12. Dare to dream.
Sometimes even the wildest dream comes true.

Who cares if people think that your dream is unrealistic? It is your dream and you are in charge of your own dream. As long as you keep moving towards your dream, eventually, one day you will achieve it because no dream or goal is out of your reach.

13. Health is your #1 priority.
Having a healthy body is another luxury that money cannot buy.

Don't forget to put your health as your number 1 priority by eating healthy and staying active. Trust me, your future self will thank you later.

14. Travel often.
Take some time off from your life by traveling, travel to places to unwind and recharge yourself. Travel also helps to open your eyes and mind, allows you to see a different side of the world through a very different kind of perspective.

I love to travel and I made a promise to myself that I would travel at least twice a year. Through traveling, you are able to experience the different cultures or lives that others are living in. To me, one of best things about traveling is that I get to taste all the delicious local dishes which I cannot find in my homeland and that is quite amazing.

15. Regret of not buying something is painful than the regret of buying something.
Okay, maybe this only applies to me or to some shopaholics out there and I do not even know whether lesson #15 even makes sense. It is up to you to judge on how true this is, haha!

If you are a shopaholic like me, you know the pain of regretting of not buying something that you like; been there, done that. I learned my lesson when I felt so regret of not getting the dress that I liked and in the end, the dress was sold out. That pain I felt taught me a lesson; if you really want something then just get it, provided that I don't burn a huge hole in my wallet.

I am not trying to encourage you girls to splurge on every item that you find cute in store. What I am trying to say is that if you really like something that you find, something that you think would be useful for you or something that would not burn a huge hole in your wallet then by all means, just get it before it is gone. But if thoughts like "it is wasting money" or "I do not need this" come across your mind then just walk away.

Or maybe I should say it like this, purchase with limit, haha!

16. Cherish your friendship.
Friends are family you choose.

It is a blessing to have friends that will actually love you and care for you like you are part of their family. Never forget to cherish each and every friendship that you have in life and never ever take them for granted because great friends are hard to come by.

17. Be grateful.
Someone else may have it worse than you, you will never know. Be grateful for what you have right now because maybe out there in the world, someone is hoping to have a life like yours.

Always remember that if you have a roof over your head when it is raining outside, a meal on your table when you are feeling hungry and a bed to sleep in when you are feeling tired, actually you are richer than you think and you should be grateful for that.

18. Read a book.
Immerse yourself in reading and let your imagination soar.

I picked up reading as one of my hobbies about a year ago and I really like how I am able to learn and improve my language or vocabulary by just reading itself.

Try to have some quite "me time" a day by just reading and slowly, you will realize that reading can actually broaden your knowledge and creativity.

19. Smile =)
Just smile, you don't own all the problems in the world. Plus a smile is the best makeup a girl can wear. 😊

20. Be yourself.
Weird, awkward or quirky? So what? That is you and you are supposed to be you, yourself.

Don't change yourself because someone finds you different; we are meant to be different from each other and that is why everyone is unique in their own way.

21. Be kind.
Be kind to every person that you meet because you know nothing about the life battle that they are in. Being kind to people is enough to put a smile one their faces.

22. Don't stress too much.
Don't stress, have faith because everything will turn out to be just fine. Just try your best, do whatever that you can do and let faith guide your way.

I tend to feel stressed over the teeny tiny things in life but slowly, I understand and realize that sometimes the things that I was stressed about earlier were nothing. Seriously nothing, just a small issue that can be solved easily.

When you are feeling stressed, stay calm, take a deep breath and clear your mind a little, remember that there is nothing in this world that you cannot solve or do.

23. Whatever you do, always give 100%.
Because the size of your effort is all that matters, not the end result.

24. Family always first.
Family will always be there when you need them, be your shoulder for you to cry on and be your listener when no one hears you. Through good times and bad times, they will not be the one who will abandon you.

As I grew older and started being busy with my own life, I realized that my time with my family are getting lesser and lesser. It makes me really happy and excited every time when I go home to be with my family. My mom will cook all of my favourite dishes and my siblings will "annoy" me to the max. We will together go for a shopping spree, spend the whole night chatting in bed and laugh at the lamest jokes.

Never forget all the things that your family has done for you, all the sacrifices that your family has made for you and all the laughter that your family has brought to you.

Always bear in mind that when you are so busy growing up, at the same time, they are also growing older. Cherish and appreciate every minute you have with them.

25. YOLO.
You only live once, you are allowed to do whatever that makes you happy, of course, as long as it is not against the law then it should be fine. 😂

How many 25 will you have in a lifetime?

Phew, I actually had to squeeze my tiny brain and think hard on what have I learned throughout the years. There are definitely more than these but these are what I can remember the most.

Y'all know sometimes life hits you freaking hard and you can't help but to remember all the life lessons, haha!

So yeah, the 25 life lessons that life has taught me so far.

I am grateful for all the life experiences or lessons that I have gained so far because those have helped to shape me for who I am today. Thank you.

But do you mind not hitting me so damn hard next time?

That is it for today's post.
Thank you for stopping by and I shall update you guys soon!

Happy New Year Bloggies!

Rachel.
