Hello Bangkok: Day #1

June 27, 2015 0 Comments
I NEED A HOLIDAY VACATION!

After staying in Brunei for about 10 months (I was working in Brunei by the way), I thought I deserved a short holiday vacation before coming back to KL.
And yes, on one fine day, we booked our flight tickets to Bangkok, Thailand.

And here we go, up, up and away!

Tiny little clouds.

Oh, did I mention before that I love window seat. I know many of you guys would say "hey, there is nothing to see up there" but I just love to see how the plane takes off, plane lands and also the fluffy clouds. I find peace.

We were a little not used to it when we landed in Mueang Airport because everything was in Thai! That scared feeling inside of us, haha!

While waiting for our luggage.
At least there are still some English and Chinese words.

Bangkok's traffic is actually something like KL's traffic.
It is always congested.
If it is possible, do travel by train (BTS or MRT) or boat.
Try to avoid travel by tuk-tuk, it's kinda hot and you are going to breath in so much of the smoke from the car exhaust.

I saw this traffic situation every time I passed by here, it was like a forever thing.

How did we travel from the airport to our hotel?
There is a bus service that travels into the city and it is only 30baht per trip.

The old school style of bus ticket, so vintage. =P

For our case, we took the A2 bus to BTS Mo Chit Station and from there we took the train to BTS Ratchathewi Station.

We bought the BTS Rabbit Card, it was much easier to travel with that card else we would need to queue up and buy the one way ticket every time if we needed to travel. It is like our Touch n Go here.

Don't forget to take this map with you if you are relying on BTS to travel around the city.

We stayed at Evergreen Place Bangkok and it was the best hotel ever!
I rated them 4.9 out of 5 stars because everything was so perfect except for the "a little slow" internet.
But hey, who needs the internet when you are on a holiday vacation?
So I rated them 5 out of 5 stars after I realized that I didn't really need the internet anyway. =P
Plus the hotel is situated very near to BTS Ratchathewi Station. All you need is about 5 minutes of walk to the station.
Told you this hotel is THE BEST!

They even got us a pool view room, this is so AMAZING!
How can you not love a pool view room?
I fell in love with this hotel all over again, haha!
Thanks for the pool view room, this is just so nice, so nice!

Our amazing view while we were staying there,

Let's take a quick look of our room.

After we had checked in to our room, put everything down and freshened ourselves up, our 4 days and 3 nights Bangkok journey had begun.

First stop for day #1: Asiatique The Riverfront.

This place is like a night market or maybe something like Jonker Street in Melaka.
There are a lot of shops and stalls there, they sell foods, clothes, bags, souvenirs and more.
It opens daily from 5:00pm to 12:00am.
We got there by boat, yes boat, cool huh? First time ever in my life to take boat as a public transport and it was free!
Asiatique has their own shuttle boat so it is free for everyone to take that boat to and from Asiatique.
You can take the BTS to BTS Saphan Taksin Station then walk a little to Sathorn Pier and wait for Asiatique shuttle boat.

Not sure on how to get there?
You can read more on how to get there here.

Sathorn Pier

Here are some of the views while we were on the boat to Asiatique.

And finally, we reached our destination.

First thing first, we went on a food hunt because we were so hungry. The last meal that we had was breakfast and I only ate two pieces of biscuits.
There were a lot of choices there and in the end we decided to eat at Nudedern Bar because I saw they have spaghetti.

Nudedern Bar

I was craving for spaghetti but I wanted to try Thai food too so yeah, Green Curry Chicken Spaghetti. It was like 2 in 1 for me but guess what? This was the spiciest spaghetti that I have ever eaten in my life. The spiciness of it was freaking crazy. I was crying while eating this.

Why is it Thai food have to be so spicy???
People like me have low spicy tolerance, this is so unfair. ='(

My crazily spicy Green Curry Chicken Spaghetti.

My bf's Seafood Galangal.
I Google-ed it and it says coconut seafood soup.

Thai Milk Tea from Tobi Ice Bar saved me from all the spiciness.

And he got himself a coconut drink.

But he was not satisfied with it and he got himself a REAL coconut drink.

Here are some photos of Asiatique.

My new ride, haha!

Let's sit down and have dinner.

It was a little hot and I wished I could just jump into the fountain water.

Juliet Love Garden

YES! Make it the best as you can.

No, you are not Jack, haha!

We found this fishy restaurant but we were too full to eat. This is so sad.
Picture with fishy will do then.

It was raining heavily at about 9:00pm++, we had no choice but to take the boat back.

We found on Google that now is the raining season for Thailand. The best time to visit Thailand is actually from November to February but I was so desperate for a holiday vacation, haha!

Bye Asiatique, it was a fun night and I really loved it there.

These were the only things that I bought from Asiatique.
Cute elephant pouches or pencil cases.

5 for 200Baht, not too expensive.

Oh yeah, and this cosmetic bag with mirror from Naraya.
I bought this for my sister, I thought it was pretty good to have a mirror in a cosmetic bag because you don't need to bring an extra mirror.

Cosmetic pouch with mirror for 90Baht.

So that's it for our day #1 journey in Bangkok, Thailand.
It was fun, it was great except for the rain.

Stay tune for day #2.
xoxo~~~♥
