Holiday Well Spent

February 03, 2017 0 Comments
Hello Bloggies!

As you know, I am sometimes (all the time πŸ˜’) quite slow in updating my blog and here I am with my Christmas blog post on Chinese New Year. Can you see how slow I am right now? Haha, my apologies for the delay.

A quick flashback to last year's Christmas where I got to spend the holiday with my family in Singapore. My mom and two of my sisters (Ingrid and Hazel) came to Singapore on Christmas eve and they were here for 3 days 2 nights.

It was quite difficult to book a hotel room during peak season; either the room rate was too expensive (since it was peak season) or the location was non-strategic. In the end, I found a room on Airbnb and to my surprise, we actually had a great experience from using Airbnb. It was my first time using Airbnb and I did not realize how easy it was to book a room through Airbnb and you can actually find quite a few rooms that are cheaper than hotel rooms (suitable for budget travelers).

For dog lovers like us, we found ourselves lucky when we knew that there would be dogs in the Airbnb that we rent. Yeah, we are one of those people who will get very excited when we see dogs.

🐢🐢🐢

Dog: "Hooman are so annoying." πŸ˜‚

We then went to Bugis Junction for some retail therapy and of course, my dearest sister Ingrid couldn't resist the urge to get a new bag at Charles & Keith.

πŸ‘œπŸ‘œπŸ‘œ

That happy face when you just bought your favourite bag.

We went to Universal Studio Singapore on the next day to have some fun. You can never say no to theme park and no one is ever too old for theme park. πŸ˜‰

🌏🌏🌏

Okay now, let's go and meet the Minions, my favourite attraction in USS!

How can you not love the adorable and stubby yellow (even though yellow is not my favourite colour) creatures?
And look, Minion headband! 😍

Even mom approved it. πŸ˜‚

We had a lot of fun at USS despite the hot weather. Just us being crazy together.
Then it started to rain heavily around 5:00 PM and this happened.

Mom was wearing a raincoat and I have no idea what were Ingrid and Hazel thinking. πŸ˜‚

USS turned into a water park in seconds! Some of the rides were still operated and we decided to ride on one of the roller coasters.

That fun feeling to ride on a roller coaster on a rainy day.

After we got so soaking wet then only we remembered that we did not have any towels and we still had to take the train home.

The next question was how to "un-soaked" ourselves?

Okay, first thought on riding a roller coaster on a rainy day: FREAKING AWESOME!

Actually not that awesome when you can feel the raindrops poking your face like a needle. Ouch! 😣

It was quite depressing when the rain did not show any signs of stopping and slowly, it started to rain heavily. Most of the outdoor rides had to close because of the rain, why rain? Why? πŸ˜”

We then decided to witness the World's Largest Indoor Light Bulb Display and it was amazing. I can not imagine how much of efforts they had put in to create this masterpiece.

There were tiny light bulbs (824,961 to be exact) all over the place and the view was beautiful and magical. It was like entering the Narnia world.

In the end, the rain did not stop and we took the train back to VivoCity for dinner. Everyone was hungry after a crazy day at USS, hungry and wet, haha!

Dinner of the day: Monster Curry.

Hazel is a huge fan of Japanese curry rice and she decided to have this for dinner.

Hazel, Ingrid and mom were sharing a huge plate of Chicken Katsu Curry with an additional omelette and the amount of food in this bowl was insane.

Bf and I, we both shared a plate of Monster Egg Curry and the curry was really delicious.

To all Japanese curry lovers out there, don't forget to give this a try. πŸ‘

At the end of the day, we were all exhausted but at least everyone was happy.

A holiday well spent with my family and going back to work on the next following Monday after the holiday was freaking blue. 😩

I am so grateful to have the chance to spend the Christmas holiday with my family.
Thank you mom and sis, you guys are awesome. 😘

Okay, that is it for this post, thank you for reading and Happy Chinese New Year.

I know it is too late to say Merry Christmas so buh bye. πŸ‘‹

Love,
Rachel.

BANANANANA

May 22, 2016 0 Comments
BELLO! BANANA! PAPAYA!
STRAWBERRY AND WATERMELON!

If any of you understand Minion language, those are so not Minion language, haha! xD

I don't speak Minion so hello everyone and welcome back to my blog!

Remember I mentioned about meeting my long lost lover at Universal Studios Singapore in my previous blog post

Here it is, my so-called long lost lover.
Let me introduce you to my soulmate, Minion!

BELLO!

I love Minion but honestly, I don't know what is the name of this Minion.

Yeah, I know. How can I qualified myself to be a Minion fan if I don't even know their names?
Gru knows and remembers each and every Minion's name.

But I do have my favourite Minion which is Bob.

Any Bob fan here? And why do you like Bob?
Because of how stubby he is? xD

ALL HAIL KING BOB!

Bought this King Bob vinyl figure from Takashimaya and it was only $19.90.

How can you resist those eyes? It is like trying to tell you "Please take me home with you and I will be your king."

I MUST TAKE IT HOME WITH ME!

Okay, back to my long lost lover in USS.

First thing that we saw once we walked into USS, Minion Popcorn Bucket.
Sling over this Minion Popcorn Bucket over your shoulder and that is how you eat popcorn in Minion style.

It seems interesting right?

Every Minion Popcorn Bucket purchased will comes with a bag of popcorn for $35.

It was really tempting to buy one for myself but what am I going to do with it after my day in USS?
It would be cool and very theme park style to carry one of those around but, what am I going to do with that?

In the end, I didn't buy it. I was unable to convince myself that I actually needed one. :(

It is okay, let's headed to Minion Mart.
I might find something else there, right?

And we have some painting issue here!

YOU SAY HELLO, I SAY BELLO!
BELLO MINIONS!

Cute tiny potion bottles filled up with Minion Candies but those are too cute to be eaten.
Those would be my decorative item at home if I bought them.

It seems that only Minions can rock with these glasses but not human, haha!

Thought I would look cute in this yellow cap but I actually look like a contractor worker.

There are few distorting mirrors in the store but we look like an alien instead of Minions.
Maybe we should paint ourselves yellow to look more Minions, haha!

My favourite picture in USS, Easter Minions and Us.

At the end of the day, I figured that I seriously need to buy something from Minion Mart.
Just anything yellow that I can keep it as a souvenir so I decided to get this.

It is actually a photo frame with a magnet at the back of it so I can just stick it anywhere I like.

We can have a Disneyland so why not a Minionland?
I would be freaking happy!

Waiting patiently for Minionland to be a reality. xD

I had a lot of fun when I was in USS, another awesome memory to keep.
I am looking forward to another holiday trip!

Okay, it is time to say goodbye to my Minions.

Thanks for making me smile like a kid again. =)

The girl who loves Minions,
Rachel.

Fun Day At Universal Studios Singapore

April 24, 2016 2 Comments
Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog!

Today I am going to take you guys on a fun day at Universal Studios Singapore (USS).

We flew over to Singapore about one month ago for a 5 days and 4 nights trip. We spent one of the days at USS and it was a really fun day for people like us.

We are just a theme park person, who loves theme park like we do?
Raise your hand up high!

It was a full day at USS for us, from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm and it was an amazing experience!
Definitely will be going back there again if I visit Singapore in the future!

THUMBS UP!

There was a special Easter event going on when we were there, colourful eggs and bunny ears were all over the place. Yes, it was really cute!

Thinking of going to USS again during Christmas, surely the place would be decorated so beautifully in Christmas theme. Feeling all Christmasy right now even though it is only April. LOL! xD

Okay, let's get back to Easter.

Hello USS!

Oh no, those are not Easter eggs, just me and dinosaur hatching. xD

Here is a list of places that we explored in USS.

My favourite attraction in USS?
No, I don't have any favourite attraction in USS because I love them all!

1. Transformer The Rides: The Ultimate 3D Battle
Our first ride in USS, Transformer The Rides: The Ultimate 3D Battle.

It is a roller coaster kind of ride but with 3D motion pictures. Imagine yourself sitting in one of the
Autobots and you get to see the Transformers battle, so cool.

While queuing up for the ride, you get to experience the feeling of being in the Transformers base and getting ready for a battle mission.

It is so cool that they manged to replicate something so similar to the movie so now, please make a Minion world for me, haha!

2. Ancient Egypt
We then traveled back in time to ancient Egypt.

I can't imagine myself living in that era where everything is so huge and mighty.
By looking at the huge statue, I felt like an ant, so small and tiny.

Don't forget to take a ride on the Revenge of the Mummy roller coaster.

The scary part of the ride is that the roller coaster is in a total darkness of a mummy tomb. Fireballs, beetles and mummy warriors appeared suddenly and they seriously scared the hell out of me.

Scariness of the ride, 4 out of 5 stars.

Or maybe I am just a scaredy-cat. xD

3. The Lost World
We traveled back in time again, to the time where dinosaurs still exist.

Let's take a river raft tour at Jurassic Park but beware, you might get wet.

When someone tries to be funny and pokes the dinosaur's nose.
You should be thankful that the dinosaur is fake else there goes your hand!

4. Far Far Away
Let's take a trip to somewhere not far away from here but still kind of far far away from here. (If that even make sense. xD)

What is your favourite character in Shrek?
I don't really have one but my favourite thing about Far Far Away is that huge white castle situated in the middle of Far Far Away land.

That is what most girls would like, right? The castle for princess. =P

5. Madagascar
We sailed all the way to Madagascar to meet King Julien and as usual, King Julien will always be King Julien.

Bf looks like he is annoyed by King Julien's feet. xD

Look at the tiny Skipper holding a bag of Cheetos, so cute!

6. Hollywood
When TV characters come to life.

And lastly, we ended our day at USS with an awesome fireworks show.

Don't mind my bad photography skill. It was not easy to get a nice shot of the fireworks but I did try my best, haha!

That is it to our fun day at USS.
We had a lot of fun there and guess what? I met my long lost lover at USS and I will talk about it in my next blog post.

Some hint for you guys, it is something yellow and cute.

Stay tune for more.

Love,
Rachel.
