Rainy Day @ Coney Island

Last Wednesday was Vesak Day (#laterpost 😅), a day where Buddhists all around the world celebrated the birth, enlightenment and death of Buddha.

And it was also a public holiday for us in Singapore, WOHOO!

To me, spending a holiday at home is strictly prohibited and that was why I got the idea of spending the day at Coney Island. BF was not really impressed about the idea of going out on a holiday, he would rather spend the day at home doing nothing. 🙅

But nope, sorry that I had to drag your butt out of the house. 😁

And here we are, Coney Island.

We were not really lucky on that day because it started to rain once we got off the bus at Punggol Settlement.

Why must you rain??? 😩

Because of the rain, we then decided to take the bus back to Punggol Interchange Station. There is a shopping mall located beside Punggol Interchange Station and that was where we spent our time while waiting for the rain to stop.

We went shopping for a bit and there was nothing interesting for me to show you guys, haha. You know, the usual stuff that girls do when they shop. 👭 Wandering around the mall, trying on tons of clothes and making unnecessary purchases because they are on sales. 😂

Let's move on to our lunch.

We planned to have our lunch at the food court in Waterway Point but OMG, searching for a seat during lunch hour or peak hour was not an easy job. 😓

Then we met Mr. Robot who was a very hardworking and dedicated tray collector. The best employee award goes to... *drum rolls* MR. ROBOT! 😁🤖🥇

In the end, we gave up and decided to have our lunch at Menya Musashi.

Before we start, let's take a few minutes to appreciate the beauty of fake food on restaurant's window display.

Here comes our lunch. 😋🍜
I had been craving for some delicious ramen and yes, the time had come.

I ordered a bowl of White Seafood Ramen and with an additional $3, I got to complete my meal with a small side dish (of your choice from the menu) which was the Musashi Crispy Gyoza and a cup of Houji Tea.

BF, on the other hand, got a bowl of Black Shabu Shabu Ramen with Fried Tofu and Houji Tea.

Here is their menu if you are interested in trying them out.

Although it was still drizzling after we finished our lunch but we insisted on taking the bus back to Punggol Settlement. We had come so far, all the way from Toa Payoh to Punggol so we just couldn't go back home without accomplishing what we had planned before.

Back to Punggol Promenade and it was still raining, why why?
But at least it was a cooling weather right? (Sometimes you just gotta look on the bright side)

Wanted to rent a bicycle but BF doesn't know how to cycle and it was impossible to master the skill of both cycling and balancing within a short period of time.

I saw a lot of oBike along the way to Coney Island so I decided to dump my BF aside (actually no, he was happily to be dumped aside so that he could play Pokemon) and cycled around by myself for about 15 minutes.

I had not cycled for a very long time and the last time when I actually cycled was like more than 10 years ago (yeah girls, I am not that young anymore 😓)

Here is me struggling a little to move the bicycle and there is me trying to make a connection with the bicycle. I seriously need to practice cycling during the weekend or whenever I have the spare time.

Okay, let's go on a mini adventure at Coney Island.

Here comes the interesting part of our adventure at Coney Island, please pay attention and do not repeat the same mistake that we did. Trust me, you are so going to regret it.

You have been warned.

If you ever come across this sign board and you are trying to find your way out of Coney Island, take my advice, pick the 800 meters exit to Punggol Promenade. This will lead you to the west entrance, the entrance that we came in earlier.

We did not do any research on Coney Island and we picked the exit to Lorong Halus. We were like "let's pick the 1.6 KM exit, although it is twice the distance to Punggol Promenade exit but at least we are able to hatch our Pokemon eggs". Yup, Pokemon is our game!

Guess what? We took about an hour to walk all the way from Lorong Halus to Punggol MRT Station, that was insane.

But at least the view along the way was so beautiful.

Phew, it was a tiring day for us. Still can't believe that we actually walked all the way from Lorong Halus to Punggol MRT station, where on earth did we get all the energy to walk? LOL!

It was a fun day exploring Coney Island despite the rainy weather. We are definitely going back to Coney Island in the future because we would prefer a much sunnier day compared to rainy day. Don't really like the idea of walking on a muddy road.

Okay, that is it for this post.

A quick update from me and I hope you guys enjoy reading.

Till next time!

Love,
Rachel.
